Casino Differentiation

By Graeme • February 20th, 2010

Walking down the strip in Vegas yesterday reminded me of walking down the streets in Madagascar a few years ago. Let me explain before you think I’m crazy.

I had a great time in Madagascar and I’m having a great time in Vegas before the WPGC conference starts tomorrow but as a “Technology Product Manager and Marketing Professional” I struggle to see the real differentiation amongst the casinos on the strip. What caused me to stop and explore was not intrigue but tired legs and hunger (the same thing that caused me stop in Madagascar). Casinos on the strip have the same problem as shop owners on the streets of Madagascar – they essentially all sell the same product. I saw this as a huge opportunity when in Madagascar and had all sorts of ideas raging through my head for the shop owners. I have the same thing happening to me in Vegas – full of ideas! It’s time to differentiate!

For the first time I find someone that reflects my exact feeling about the strip! All I can remember is how my feet ached and guys every 2 meters offering me tickets to go watch other women stripping! My responre was always ‘prefer opposite sex’

The guys offering the tickets on the strip really spoil the atmosphere. I’m surprised the casinos don’t get rid of them. They make such a mess because very few people take the tickets and they eventually end up scattered all over the sidewalk.
