Visionary Surveillance (Part 3)

By Graeme • December 2nd, 2009

The first two points to consider if you want to create a compelling vision were:

  • State your vision simply, and
  • Define the problem your vision is going to solve

The third and easiest point is to offer a solution. Coming up with a visionary solution that produces results will be much easier when you’ve first defined the problem that your vision is going to solve.

Points to consider while looking for a solution:

  • Listen to yourself and your team (There’s an old joke that a consultant is someone who listens to the employees, tells management what they are saying and takes a fee for it)
  • Do what makes sense e.g. if the solution does not solve the problem you defined, go back to the drawing board

It was mentioned in the post to “Post your problem on this blog and allow us to help you with a compelling vision for your surveillance team”. Why? I read an interesting blog today which answers the “why” better than I can (“How to be a great client”: http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/2009/12/how-to-be-a-great-client.html
