Visionary Surveillance (Part 1)

By Graeme • November 17th, 2009

Do surveillance departments really have the best “vision” in an organization?

Vision is a mental picture of what could be, fueled by a passion that it should be. Every leader should be a visionary and in the next few posts I’m hoping to help you with one of the following for your surveillance department:

  • new vision
  • renew vision

Can you remember Hillary Clinton or John McCain’s vision for the recent presidential race? Obama’s was simple and clear – “Change”. Every time Obama got up to speak his audience knew what consumed him – “Change”.

Visionary leaders have simple visions. The more clear a vision, the easier it is to support (Obama proved that). Paragraphs and complex sentences don’t communicate vision. If it’s not memorable it’s not portable.

Point to consider number 1: Sate Your Vision Simply
